Employment Bulletins in Tyne and Wear
Employee Bulletins: Twri has issued a bulletin on the ONS estimates of employee numbers for 2009 in Tyne and Wear and each Local Authority District.
Comparing 2008 and 2009 (the recession), employee numbers are estimated to have fallen by almost 5% in Tyne & Wear (down 25,000). This is a faster fall than in GB (-3%). It is also a larger drop than indicated by the rise in unemployment (also around 15,000).
The bulletin gives the estimates for 18 industries (the ‘Broad Industrial Groups’).
The estimates are taken from the new BRES, which has replaced the ABI (Annual Business Inquiry).
