Newcastle's Sustainable Community Strategy and Local Area Agreement

All local authorities have a duty to work with partner organisations to produce a Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS). The strategy shows how local organisations will work together to improve the economic, social and environmental well-being of the people in their area.

The aim of the strategy is not to provide a comprehensive list of all the different activities going on to improve the city, but rather to set out the key priorities for change and actions to deliver them.

Included alongside the SCS is Newcastle's second Local Area Agreement (LAA) which sets out a number of national and local priorities that partners will work together to achieve over the next three years (2008-2011).
