Under legislation the Council grants licences for the provision of Marriage and Civil Partnership Ceremonies in certain premises.
When an application is made, the Fire Brigade, and a Council Enforcement Officer inspect the premises. This is to determine suitability of the premises for the licence.
An advertisement has to be placed in a local newspaper for one night only but 28 days are allowed for objections to be received to the Licensing Office.
