Any person who wishes to be in charge of or navigate a pleasure boat/vessel for the purpose of letting it out for hire to members of the public or to be used for carrying passengers for hire, must obtain licences from the Local Authority.

Right to Appeal

Any applicant who is refused a licence has a right of appeal to the Licensing Sub-Committee and/or a Magistrates Court. In the event of an application being refused the applicant will be informed of the grounds for refusal and will be advised as to the appeals procedure.

Items to be submitted with this fully completed application form:-

  • The appropriate licence fee, payable at the time of submitting this application form.
  • A current Department of Transport Boatmens Licence (B.M.L.4) applicable to the applicant.
  • A V.H.F Licence applicable to the applicant.
  • Two passport type photographs of the applicant
